Ability Quote & Illustration

It’s not so much what we have, as what we do with that we have, that makes the difference in this world. For example:

  • Longfellow could take a worthless sheet of paper, write a poem on it and make it worthy $6,000. That’s genius!
  • Rockefeller could put his name to a piece of paper and make it worth a million. That’s capital!
  • Uncle Sam can take a silver, stamp an emblem on it, and make it worth a dollar. That’s money!
  • A mechanic can take a metal that is worth only five dollars and make it worth three hundred and fifty dollars. That’s skill!
  • An artist can take a ten dollar piece of canvas, paint a picture on it and make it worth thousands. That’s art!

Abundant Living Abundance Illustration For Speech Presentation

A university professor tells of being invited to speak at a military base one December and there meeting an unforgettable solider named Ralph. Ralph had been sent to met him at the airport. After they had introduced themselves, they headed toward the baggage claim.
As they walked down the concourse, Ralph kept disappearing. Once to help an older woman whose suitcase had fallen open. One to lift two toddlers up to where they could see Santa Claus, again to give directions to someone who was lost. Each time he came back with a smile on his face.

  • “Where did you learn that?” the professor asked.
  • “What?” Ralph said.
  • “Where did you learn to live like that?”
  • “Oh,” Ralph said, “during the war, I guess.” He then told the professor about his tour in Vietnam, how it was his job to clear the minefields, how he watched his friends blow up before his eyes, one after another.
  • “I learned to live between steps,” he said. “I never knew whether the next one would be my last, so I learned to get everything I could out of the moment between when I picked up my foot and when I put it down again. Every step I took was a whole new world, and I guess I&r`quo;ve been that way ever since.”

Acceptance Quotes Abut Encouragement And Acceptance

“In The Whisper Test, Mary Ann Bird writes:

I grew up knowing I was different, and I hated it. I was born with a cleft palate, and when I started school, my classmates made it clear to me how I looked to others: a little girl with a misshapen lip, crooked nose, lopsided teeth, and garbled speech.

When schoolmates asked, ‘What happened to your lip?’ I’d tell them I’d fallen and cut it on a piece of glass. Somehow it seemed more acceptable to have suffered and accident than to have been born different. I was convinced that no one outside my family could love me.

Annually we had a hearing test…Mrs. Leonard gave the test to everyone in the class, and finally it was my turn. I knew from the past years that as we stood against the door and covered one ear; the teacher sitting at her desk would whisper something and we would have to repeat it back—things like “the sky is blue” or “do you have new shoes?” I waited there for those words that God must have put into her mouth, those seven words that changed my life. Mrs. Leonard said, in her whisper “I wish you were my little girl.”
